No real need, I took my 315's off my truck thinking it would help my mileage while pulling my jeep, it didn't help at all if anything it made it worse.
I went from 315 to 265, about to put my 315's back on.

You can't have my tires damn it. What is the buggy gonna look like with some 265's on it! :flipoff1:

Did you regear?

I don't see how that could be the case. The truck is designed to run 245's and adding 35" tires puts the gear ratio way off. Unless you regear, you cannot be better off with larger tires. I don't care what people say about turning lower RMPs with larger tires, the rolling mass and removing the vehicle out of the stock powerband has always gotten me worse mileage.

I obviously don't have the full story, but that makes no sence to me that you would get worse mileage with 265s than 315s...

Re: Ok, so I dont need one, but.....

Nolen, I don't understand it either. It doesn't make sence, but I promise its the truth.
I haven't regeared. Juan Hong Loe will back me up he has witnessed it.

Re: Ok, so I dont need one, but.....

Cole drives his truck like he drives his jeep so to say. To the floor at every red light. Let's see towing around 75 and higher. This is really the issue with his poor fuel milage. Oh yeah and the past stacked chips and the new PPE tuner probably doesn't help either! :flipoff1: Not that I don't like riding with him or anything cause you never know who's gonna get cussed at or honked at or anything like that. ALways fun! ;D

Re: Ok, so I dont need one, but.....

fyi, I'm turning 2300 rpm at 70 in OD and you can't tell me that upsizing in tires and getting my r's down to around 1900 in the cummins isn't going to help my milage. the mileage drops off 2mpg over 70. when wyatt upsized tires to 35's, it helped his milage, and yes that's hand figuring over a houston to paola drive several times so the milage should be about the same. Agreed that with most things this doens't work out trying to lug too much and push too much wind, but there are cases of success.

Re: Ok, so I dont need one, but.....

all the tire changes need a speedo recalibration to be on point.....otherwise you are pissing in the wind...an uncalibrated speedo with larger tires will actually be reading LESS distance than actually traveled....

i took the 325/60's off of my truck just before xmas and i am getting 50+ miles a tank more now on teh stock sized tires.....

kind of what I was saying, He knew the ACTUAL distance to figure the milage, not what the comp said.

Re: Ok, so I dont need one, but.....

Well, I have never seen it work. Theoretically lowering Rpms is the Overdive ticket, but the rolling mass, drag and lugging has always hurt more from my experience on both gas and diesel.

My speedo has been calibrated and matches my GPS.

Re: Ok, so I dont need one, but.....

I used my Bully Dog Module to set my speedo dead nuts. At 70mph I roll about 1700rpms with the 315's and 4sp auto

Re: Ok, so I dont need one, but.....

If you do buy TexasDirectAuto is a great broker. I have bought 3 vehicles from them and would do it again in a minute.

I love my Dodge MegaCab seats. Only seats that don't make my back hurt. I have 55K miles on mine in less than 18 months and get 20-21 miles per gallon on the highway behaving. I got 15.9 pulling my wifes suburban on a 20' trailer. Only mods to the engine is a K&N filter.

Re: Ok, so I dont need one, but.....

Thats good to know. Those guys sell around 300 vehicles per month with little to no overhead. Just pushing alot of paper. Are you near their shop on the north side or southwest side?

I'd like to blow my money on other crap and not a new truck, but the price on this thing is so f-ing right.
Try to keep in mind this won't be the only good deal to cross your path. Sometimes when I'm buying something used I get caught up in the idea that this is a one of a kind deal but it never is.
