Wyatt v Dustin. Game on.

Dustin and his Mini-me, are ****ing annoying with their Hooker Harness is the goddamn end-all-be-all, and we suck them off harder than anyone else drivel. And you're going to die for following your other harness manufacturers recommended mounting and all race organizations rules on harness mounting becuase blah blah, we are so full of **** gods of pbb safety tech listen to us mentality.

Dustin and Mini-Dustin are never wrong, but this is about as close as I think I can ever get to gettin him to admit he's not 100% falling over himself right, ****ing clowns. :gay:
"I would NOT build a car for myself with a down-angle, but that doesn't mean I won't ride in a down-angle car or even bitch about down angles. I will bitch about non-straight belt lines however. That's it for me, I'm out of this thread unless there's updates from Matt or Nick. "

FIA Spec does not mandate against positive angles and in fact, for the last number of years, even uses a positive shoulder harness angle on their sled tests. As said before, this belongs in a different thread, specific to the subject. I do not have time today, but will put together the people I have dealt with, the facts they use, the business angle that has kept some companies from moving forward, and some pretty practical diagrams to show why we've made the decision to stop using down angle mounting in our vehicles. We shoot for a few degrees up for the racing we do. If there was a sanction spec that strictly mandated straight back or down, we'd use straight back. I would NOT build a car for myself with a down-angle, but that doesn't mean I won't ride in a down-angle car or even bitch about down angles. I will bitch about non-straight belt lines however. That's it for me, I'm out of this thread unless there's updates from Matt or Nick.

GET WELL QUICK GUYS.

and thanks Nolen for the detour booyang , back to the regularly scheduled programming. :driving:

It is motor time!!!
I am trying to figure out the base motor and what to start with and who to build it. I'm not a motor retard just slightly above it.
What motor would you guys think I should be running??? I have the idea in my head what it needs. Class1 type horsepower. But want some opinions. I think I would be doing this car an injustice to not give it 700hp at the crank.

441CID LSX is where I'm leaning. vs. like a 416 LS2, 421 LQ9, 429 LS3, or 441 LS7 just from a cylinder wall perspective all of those get pretty damn thin. The LQ9 has me on the fence as the iron block would definatly standup to the abuse.
Last question DRY or WET Sump oil system? I'd have to have it built with the LS7 crank to run the Drysump and would basically be all over the GM counter drysump setup. Any thoughts???

I have offers for a "labor" sponsored build, but its not all that local to me. I have a really good local shop but they are high dollar. And the third option is using a badass builder thats not really local to me in Houston but would be fairly local to all of the west texas races I plan on doing. Sorry I'm out on Mast or any of the other turnkey shops. Mast seems to do the exact same build as most other shops and then adds $2k to the final price. They are just way too high dollar. Anyone have a builder that is the **** and doesnt want giraffe ***** money?

The shop I used down near Baton Rouge is the **** apparently when it comes to LS motors. I got all of my parts from them and went down to have it dyno tuned. They are a small shop, but have a big reputation with the 1/4 mile crowd. It is Futral Motorsports, the owner is Alan Futral. They had some high dollar cars in the shop. You might want to check them out.

Stay in the 6's, Atlas won't like it :flipgotcha:
LSX, you can go big displacement numbers.

Dry sump....Do we keep hearing of failures? What happened to Scherer? I guess most of them are in the rocks, I suppose this thing will hardly see those, so F it, dry it. :woody:

and this thread location is exactly perfect. I can rant and yada yada on this **** and you guys get it and understand.

Someone please kick me in the nuts I know better than to build I really do, I should bought used, but apparently I aint that smart to take my own advice and words of wisdom. I been amassing parts and sticking them on here and there, of course this **** is stupid. But todays "GOOD GOD" moment.....
So I ordered lugnuts today......you know a very integral part of any offroad project. $195 plus shipping and boom!!!
'ats right Mark Williams 5/8-18 with 3/8 aluminum encapsulated spacers. $3.50/nut, $3/spacer Sold in packs of 10 of course!

:****:

Its no wonder NASA ended up with a $30k toilet seat they let offroaders build that ****.

I am eating those words. MAST will be my motor builder, after some discussion with all builder and pricing, and support and locational considerations they beat all but the shop that was going to sponsor the labor but is in California. 4 week delivery, so should have by mid-March.

Going to be a bad mutha!!!

Added tech:
Running Spider ProHubs w/ 11/16" lug studs but are also hubcentric.

For 11/16" lugstuds it is recommended your wheels be drilled to 45/64". Mine rims are actually a bit larger at 23/32" now.
Hopefully it shouldnt be a problem considering I'm extremely tight on the hub. I have one wheel that is 3/4" which is 1/16" of play should be ok, but will run it and see what gets destroyed.

Cliffnotes
.6875 lugstuds
.703125 recommended lug hole in wheel
.71875 is what "THIS" guy is running

Parts have been trickling in. Bilstien has had the whip cracked on them last week. I’ve been waiting 5 months for my Bypasses. They set a delivery date 5 weeks from now with every two week check ins, so this should happen now.

Got the call last night from Bilstien, my custom tube placement bypasses are at the welder and will be at the chromer by end of next week. DSI/Trentfab just really ****ed that whole deal all sorts of up. As soon as I started talking to Bilstien direct everything has been dreamy.
