Air Shock/Front Suspension Redesign Tech

Here you go haters.....

I will get some pics later from the side so you can see the backside of the new mounts. It basically curves back in and ties into the side of the belly pan. Very strong and beefy, should be much better. I got about 5" or so of vertical sep now. Dan and I drove it all around the lot and up and down the loading docs before and after and it was a huge difference in stability and control. Exhaust had to be cut right after the headers so it is off to the exhaust shop tommorow. Almost done and ready to ride.

Ok, I thought you were re-working the front links, to fix the bounce you had????

No onto the rear links. are the uppers now welded of of the skid plate? Do you have to unbolt the upper links to drop the skid???

Nice welds though!

Both ends were re-done, because the problem was pevelant all around, plus I wanted them to be setup the same so one end would not overwork the other. Yes you have to unbolt all the links to drop the skid, that has always been the case, nothing new there. Gotta love that design!

Better pics. I added some shake can underneath to clean up the look some and I painted the brackets

the details of not painting the hardware!

I said screw that BS, I
Im now painting over all link hardware. And I'm fixing to murder out my links and heims.

Matt a cool tool to use when painting like that is "aluminum foil" tear off what you need and crinkle it around what you are trying to protect. Like links or airshocks.

It looks like either that rod end is badly bent or you don't have enough threads engaged (both?). Sometimes it bothers me when people point out every stop/start on a weld as if I didn't know about it but that's not going to last and losing that rod end has the potential to get expensive.

Are you still working on it? If the picture shows it accurately, you need to take care of that.

What is the scoop?

Did it all work?

Pics.

We had 3 rigs, no camera, we rode it all in 4 hours so no pics. I really liked how it worked, much more stable and balanced. I did not full on hit anything to test the bounce, just crawled around. Bumped it a few times and it seemed fine. I need a new steering pump, when it gets hot it starts bringing the suck. Other than that and looking for some ways to cut down heat in the cab, I am done with this thing for a while. Have some things I "Want" to do that require fab work like remounting the rear shocks, mouting air bumps, etc. but the money is not there and it is not totally required at this point in time.

Who all showed and rode ?

Id like to shake down out there once I get mine settled in for round 3.... or is it 4 or 5 hell I dont know anymore laughing1

Me, TK and CaddiPoweredYJ. Greg was coming with Joe riding bitch but they had electrical issues trying to pull on the trailer

Very glad to hear. I hope it is all done.

Might try some Amsoil from Cue before you ditch the pump. I am using it and it is some bad ass stuff. I also added a cooler this time around and it all seems to stay nice and strong.

As for heat, with a buggy and an aluminum panel cockpit, it is hard to deal with.

The cheapest and first thing is to figure out how to keep the hot air from the fan isolated in the engine bay and where it exits under the chassis.

The second thing is to pull the panels and line the underside with 1 sided sticky aluminum reflective insulation. You get it in sheets or rolls from Summit. Not expensive at all. I have an IR temp gauge and when I added it to Kate, temps dropped 50* on the surface.

Lastly, next time you foresee some down time, pull the exhaust and have it ceramic coated. Costly, but worth it in the end.
