Boonie Buster Ver. 2.634

No pictures of tonight, but I think I fixed my transmission cooler line leak, I robbed a fitting of my other 700r4 (pays to have crap laying around sometimes).

Made a "To Do" list of things i need to do, lots of little things, I ripped the vinyl floor out a couple days ago, ground off most of the rust with a wire wheel and drilled the holes for the bucket seat brackets, I will have to make some spacers for the inside front holes, and the floor is slightly uneven on the pass. side and WAY off on the driver's side. I have some ideas rolling around in my head for the shift linkage, I have the triple stick boot...anyone know of a good place to purchase shifters and knobs? I kinda want to find some unique knobs to put on the shifters(no wieners or vaginas:redneck:) I sent off the driveline parts and the steering arms to be returned/refunded/replaced. So hopefully next week I will have that stuff back and ready to rumble...:corn: :corn: :corn:

Ok, so I got the high steer arms back, and on...finally. I also got the triple shifters just about done, minus, painting and tapping the shafts for some shifter balls.

It'll be a little tight against the tranny shifter, but i am just going to shim the tranny shifter to the pass. side a little, so the skirt that goes around the tranny doesn't rub.

Ok, so I have let this go on for far too long... I fell to the second page!:booo:

Anywho... After a few good razzing ( thanks 84toyota4x4 and Ashes  ) I decided to make some forward progress, whether it be good or bad.

I got my winch plate welded on, so next step is to gusset the front and put it all back together, the bumper is going to require some major trimming. But I really like that it's not going to affect my approach angle much at all.:awesomework:

PLUS as an added bonus We decided this might be a good option for a front bumper before I started the winch mounting, and maybe having a reciever hitch setup... Whatdya think?!?!:redneck: :redneck: :redneck:

I figure it should meet legal height regulations according to the WACs :haha: :haha: :haha:

I think I just found the company I am going to purchase my toyota conversion flanges from:awesomework: Once that is fingered out, I can order up drivelines with my store credit through the other company:cheer: :corn:

Is the later model toyota NON- C/V pattern 60mm x 60mm, 10mm bolts? I want to have my d-lines made with the non-C/V style ends, I just can't remember what pattern is the desired/most-common toyota pattern...

Anyone?:corn:

Looks good. Glad to see you decided to do a little something to it again. Sorry I cant help you with the flange size. All I know is they are different, I dont know which way or how.

Ok, so I ordered up all my toy flanges with the 60mm x 60mm non-C/V style pattern. The guy at customdrivelines.com was great to deal with, he said even if the parts were wrong he'd return them. He even offered to do research for me and we talked for a bit about flange seal sizes (a problem that was not resolved with the "other" company, on their yokes...)
Thanks Vern!:awesomework:

Glad it works, but what the hell is up with that fairlead crap

Keep working on that thing. Just get it going for a "test drive" and figure out what needs to be fixed from there man, its close to THAT point at least. For instance with your tranny, no need to take it apart now to fix a leak, then drive it and find out you need to fix something else with the dual cases or something, so now you have to take it apart AGAIN. Figure out if it works right, then go back and fix that little leak. No need to perfect it now and find out later you need to take it apart for something else.

Thats just my opinion though. Either way, its looking good. Those shifters and cross members look damn good!

Ya i must agree, i was thinking about it more and more after you smacked me around a bit on the idea.:redneck: And I am just going to let it slide for now unless when i fire it up and it gets warmed up it is gushing it out i will ignore it for a test run.

Anyways, got my flanges in last night, they're looking pretty sweet, I still need to retorque the pinion nuts, possibly just get new ones, then get seals for the np205 and that will be put back together. Measured for drivelines, did a little flexing with the hi-lift to make sure of my travel and such. Plus I put the grill and valance back on, still no bumper, the winch is in the way of the stock mounting holes...

And FYI the warn jeep "universal" plates suck.... I knew i was going to have to modify it some, but even the fairlead holes were wrong :wtf: :eeek: I had to drill holes in my roller fairlead to get it to line up and i'll still have to pull the winch back up to get the bolts in it, that or jsut get a hawse from TG as TJ suggested, that way it'll use holes that are hgher up on the mounting plate that actually line up :haha:

Got me some drivelines tonight...only took less than 24 hours to get them  :haha: They look good, the service was good, chatted with the one guy i think the owner for a while. Pics to follow....once i find my camera:looser:

I am definitely satisfied with the quality and service form these guys. Gene is a great guy to talk to and won't BS you around. I sat and talked with him for an hour both nights. Reasonable price. The front shorter shaft is all brand new, I accidently ground too much off the journal to use the stock weld yoke end, plus the bearing had spun in the flanged section, so for cheaper than Woody's or High Angle....can't complain:awesomework: and local. BUT, the true test will be when they go on the rig.

Drove it into the garage... With only one side of the exhaust on and an open header it only drew one neighbor out of their house :haha:

Time to cobble the drivers side exhaust back together.

Only major issue is the steering drag link at the end of it's stroke to the pass. side, hits the front shock:mad: but if i run the Bilsteins it'll clear up that problem... Still running Crashy poo's old Skycrackers:awesomework:

Tried to play with the sticks a little, was grinding a lot because i forgot to lock in those pesky hubs...:haha: :haha: :haha: NEWB!!!:haha:

Maybe I missed it... but why did you go with Toy flanges on the drivelines?

decided to get toy flanges on the diffs and t-cases, i wasnt going to be able to effectively run stock 1310 stuff up front and decided to try something different...

Tested the winch and warmed the truck up and checked for leaks....no leaks....yet..... and the winch won the battle:awesomework:

Just got done putting 9 miles on the truck and filling up the gas tank since i left it full when i put it to rest a year ago, someone felt they needed that gas more than i did:awesomework: But ya, it seems to get right up and go, the speedo seems to be reading close enough to get me by, just gotta recalibrate my brain for it. On 39's at what i beleive to be 55-60mph, no wobbles, maybe a tiny bit from the meats, but drives fine and straight, needs a steering stabilizer though...:redneck: I think a few drives to work and back and this thing should be ready...

There is a leak of gear oil coming from the dual case adapter....not sure why seeing as how everything is new in there....:eeek:

Kwality. Don't run them cases dry. Might as well fix it now before it's a big mess later.

ya, i was already, a little concerned with the range box as it was a bear to find any way to fill it without doing the plastic bag trick:rolleyes: but ya, it definitely needs to be dealt with.
