Yeah good eye Kelly, good eye. now to get the answer out of Shannon as to which performed how? Cortez would have been a good comparo for Johnson Valley. Sandy course with rocks.

Seeing Lovells got to the podium on them.......I know Brian took 2nd on Maxxis. Did anyone run 40" Treps in Cortez? How'd they do?

Wyatt, I'm going to be at the Hammers in October. I will stop by on my way out and pic up what tires you want me to test for you. It would be nice if you had a set of bfgs, creepys and treps setup on a combination of locks and stuans. I can run a different set each day and let you know what works best. :flipoff1:
I think you are putting to much thought into tires. instead of worrying about tires and pressure, worry more about taking safer and easier lines. If you drive smart you'll do well.
Traction want be an issue out west, staying together will.

Bradass is the voice of reason here.

Anyone else think the kid in the helmet looks like Cole? molaugh

Always overthinking, come on, thats what we do! I will more than likely be in Cali on the same reds I'm on right now, well minus one that is full of plugs already. What I'm after is, there are big name teams experimenting with or have experimented with running the BFG Baja's. I just wonder if its a wise move for a race like KOH. I think it is. But is the cost to switch justified? No idea...just over thinking.

if it were me I'd run - maxxis at 15-20 psi and carry full size spare, good plug set and air and be smart and try to drive within your means.

you won't out drive shannon or some of the others but you might out think or patient them.

Durability is numero uno

Wyatt stop overthinking it man, run what you have they are just know getting broken in. Don't buy a set of tires for one race when over half the field will be running what you have on your rig right now. If you need another spare to give you 6 good tires then do that. I know you will add stuff to your rig for the race but you should leave your tires alone.

Ok, ok, so we'll keep the reds, and kelly will build a new buggy in the enclosed on the way to Cali. laughing1

You're 6 lug wheels aren't ya? Damn be nice if i already had spare tires and wheels for ya, or we could steal yours if we really went through them, LOL.

I currently carry two spares, may go to two on the trailer and one on the buggy. Hell buy one more and I'll have a whole spare set, BOO YAA!!!

So Reds, and Stauns sound like the winning combo? Carry plugs, and air for good measure. CHECK!

I have a spare on the way and I know between all the guys in here we can come up with another spare or two to bring just in case.

sorry wyatt, didn't know you already had stauns

I'm thinkin bout findin a way out to help and wheel the hammers. If I make it I'd have 4-8lug creepies that could be available for whoever needs em first

****. Adam's new creation? I wish we all matched for stratigically placed pit crews for all of us, not everyone for themselves

I know Woodlee will be pitting with Doc and crew, I am down for aligning with anybody. We'll have tons of stuff to cover our own asses, but shoot after a week of wheeling out there, hopefully still have enough spares for the race itself.

Travis, I don't have Stuans. I have been planning on getting for sometime now, but haven't pulled the trigger.

And run them with your beadlocks? :dunno:

Yep.

Plan to use them to hold that inside bead, and work like a pseudo run-flat.

I currently silicone my inside bead, it works, but damn near impossible to break down.

You might want to think about machining out an alum ring and tig'ing it on the inside of the wheel for strength. I bent an alum wheel in Clayton and in MO, both caused me to lose all air in the tire. If the wheel would have had something to make the inside stronger, I think it would have been ok. If you have a hookup at a machine shop, it would be cheap insurance. I never thought I needed double beadlocks, but I do think I need a stronger inside bead.

x2 Wyatt. Fawk the stauns in the a-whole. Stiffen the wheel with a cawk ring and make eight 40" dia kevlar patches for the Krawlers. :flipoff1:

I still think the Stauns are a good idea as a "run flat". I just dont think double beadlocks as in another bead lock ring welded on the inside bead of the wheel are necessary.
