Bryan, I agree. I dont need double beadlocks.
I'd love to machine a piece to add to the inside of my wheels. But there is no room. My WE"s are 5" BS, my steering arms have 1/4" clearance before getting into the rim.
If I run stuans its more for the runflat ability than locking the innerbead. Thats just an ancillary benefit.

Wayes tried the Staun runflat idea last year and they shredded after he tried to drive the entire race on a flat laughing1

Yeah they wont last long, but....................................... Flat ground? PITS?

Why not just low-tech it. All this talk about reinforcing aluminum inner beads and runflats... What about H1 wheels with runflats? Couldn't use your krawlers because of the 16.5 wheel size... but it's something to think about.

The magnesium (sp) run flats break and end up puncturing the tire. Deason cut 2 tires that way.

then use PVC inserts :flipoff1:

OR.. better idea... bomb that **** in a jeep with a pro-comp lift and all bolt ons thumb.gif

How are the PVC one a run flat? I had them in my Stazworks and all they did was keep the inner bead seated.
I thought with the Magnesium (sp) ones you could still drive with them. I don't have a clue what I am talking about. :dunno:

They were pretty tough on my old rig. After :drinkers: I rammed that turd into everything and they held up well. I hit the first ledge on double whamy so hard in Moab that it knocked me out (or I passed out) :dunno:

Ok, just watched the Cortez video, forget I ever considered BFG Baja T/A Projects for rocks. YOURS!

You see a set spin and spin, and spin, and never even begin to look like they are getting traction on rock.

Ok, so I'll run my Reds, or if Maxxis will let me trial a set of 40" Treps.....

Ok so I built some of these Projects tires as you guys call them. They are just like the baja tires except they are a lot lighter. The tread isn't near as thick as the normal baja tires and the tread pattern is different. They are still a hard tire nothing like a Krawler. Oh yeah it's called a KRT

On a side note I found out that BFG as plans on strengthing the sidewall in the Krawlers. They just have to find the time to build the test tires. I usually ask them a couple times a week about this. So hopefully this will make the Krawlers live longer and not hurt there performance. I'm sure this won't happen soon because we are so far behind right now but atleast it is in the plans.

Cole thats awesome news, and even more awesome news.

The Baja T/A that we are calling a "Project" is because thats the name that is on the price sheet for them, they only come in the one size 39x17. I'll start calling them KRT's though. I knew the Baja tires were heavy sum-bee's , so its cool you got you hands on one, and they are lighter.

As for Krawler sidewalls, :woody: :woody: :woody: :woody: :woody: :woody:

OK back to the top. I talked to the BFG rep last weekend and hopefully they will have the KRT's ready for people in the program to buy them. You could only get them in a 37" tire and only certain racers coud get them but we just started building the 39's last night. I built 17 and they have a lot of badass stuff in them.

Also talked to Shannon about why he swapped them out during the Cortez race. He said his car was designed to run on 39's and he didn't feel comfortable with the 37's. Said he is going to try some 39's in the future.

I need to call Victor this week huh?

I'll run the 37's at KOH, I dont mind. But I wont really have a need for them after that race......so.........

Prolly just going to stick with what I got, and carry a spare, and a trailer filled with tire plugs.

The "KING" of the hammers said he tried those tires for 1 lap and took them off. That pretty much summed up his opinion of them.

I groped one at the finals that was un mounted and the tread is hard as ****, but the sidewall even though thick seems very flexy.. weird ass tire . Short and fat...... laughing1 Derek West's rig sidewalled the **** out of one, like make you cringe he did it down hill in a turn against a rock sidewalled it, and I thought for sure it would be flat once the dust settled but the bitch didnt damage .

West has been running them, I was referring to Shannon Campbell's opinion of them. Im sure its like anything else, everyones "ass" feels different when it comes to driving so things like this either get the nod or you go back to old faithful. ( if you have / spend the time and money to try them )

This KOH race is more about not doing something stupid and killing a tire.... IMO, its all driver/team and preparation for KOH. Were talking about 4 hours or more time worth of good or bad decision making at race speed. Brutal and kickass all at the same time !
