The snawsage version---- something

Aluminum...:puke:

The guy I purchased all my steering system shares your view on aluminium, he says it is brittle and has been known to crack and is not designed to handle the pressure of hydro steering. Fuel pressure, yes....hydro steering , no.

Yet, I look at the aluminium "Y" in the link and I see thick beffy chunks of aluminium.

Do you know of a better alternative?

Its pretty beef and guaranted NOT to break....

Factory air lockers.

So, because of this, does the CO2 get pushed back into the bottle or does the bottle need refilling?

What I mean is, and this might be wrong (Duh): Lockers on> CO2 pushed to the lockers. Lockers off> CO2 goes back into bottle.

Or: Lockers on> CO2 pushed to lockers. Lockers off> CO2 becomes part of the atmosphere upon release. Kinda like air brakes.

Run out of CO2. No locker action...

I think the air system would eventually run out of pressure, my ARB would "puff" air out into the atmosphere to release the locker, and not return to the tank, too much pressure for it to return if there was a way...the lockers shouldnt require much to activate

Some fittings are cast aluminum which is weak and porus. Forged or billet aluminum that is CNCd to make parts, is stronger. If it were cast, I would not use it(cast Al. sucks). Under the discription it says: CNCd out of billet 6061.

Although it's not quite the same a "tee" is the alternative...Yes that's a billet aluminum piece and probably thick and strong too. My issue with it would be tightening up the fittings without galling the threads and weakening them....

As long as I don't let robin touch it--It should be fine :fawkdancesmiley: :fawkdancesmiley:

I manage to get the front plumbing ran--except the vent.. But I did my best to secure it all..

My "Y" is from toybug's old steering setup with a few year's of use on it, and it is still good as new. Good enough that I'll be getting a few more year's use out of it.

When you turn the locker on it pressurizes the system, turn it off and it vents the pressure to the atmosphere. It's actually kinda funny to watch Robin with open diffs when he runs out of CO2 though.... :D

I am surprised no one carries the small CO2 cartriges from air guns as a back up to get you off the trail, final few air locker uses before the only way out is a winch and the skinny pedal.

I have 2 of the ones pictured, and I have 2 of the paintball gun ones. If Iof the paintball ones spring a leak...poof... all air gone. The bigger ones I can shut off before I loose all the air.

I do not recall running out of Co2 and being stuck with open diffs. I have ran out of forgot to switch bottles, then I just steal my friends powert ank and strap it on and ...vroom.

I may go for the really small ARB compressor someday, but the Co2 works

Hey Crash, could you cut a hole in the aluminium for my hand to fit through to turn the air on and off? My hands are XXL.

I would do it myself but I have not asked for permission, and I'm afraid of you now.:booo: :booo:
