Damn, if I had not built such a rediculously huge house for just 2 people and wasn't stuck with a mortgage that could buy 19 trucks and trailers, I would have the same stuff as you.

Fixed it for you.....

Damn, I could almost hear you whining as I read that....

I highly doubt this big honking trailer sees XRRA events. I have to drive to far for those, no way will I put that kinda fuel down, the featherlite with racer box is good enough for those. This is for weekend wheeling, maybe I'd bring it to Gray Rock, maybe.

That is gay. You are gay for typing it. Don't be gay.

I hope you sell it, I want it.

Don't be gay or I will shoot you.

LOL, I bet I have about or less than half what your buggy cost in my truck and trailer :flipoff1:

I doubt it, but you can keep telling yourself (and Matt) that.

We plan to fill up some bedrooms soon, don't worry about us.

Wyatt I hope you use the **** out of that trailer, that is the point right? Save on hotel costs by staying in the trailer? It would suck for quick runs, but you still have your other trailer right?

The big reason though was KOH. Dont worry I am right in this trailer, even if I sell it right after KOH I'll get my money out of it, and we all have a place to sleep, and eat in the desert.
Truck, yeah I got a good deal.

I was literally waiting on a call from the guy on the '06 Blueish Chevy, when this one fell in my lap. I looked at the '06 on Thursday, and was like, this is it, we are done, I need to go swap moneys around to have cash, and wanted to see it not wet from rain and told the seller that. Went on Saturday to buy, and found the underside completely coated in diesel fuel. ANOTHER REASON NOT TO BUY IN THE RAIN OR A WET CAR. Seller took the truck to a dealer on Saturday and was waiting on the verdict on Monday. Burst fuel return line due to stuck closed valve on side of filter. The price was still right so I was cool if that was all it was, and then the '07 fell in my lap.

So I found out the deal on all of these high mileage loaded out diesels around Houston. There were 4 at the alignment shop and I aksed the guy about them. They are oilfield management/exec trucks. To be wrote off they have to have a certain GVWR, and these guys are running from Houston to the Permian basin or to gulf shore fields daily checking sites, crews, production etc. They arent crew trucks as they are full optioned out. The one I bought is an SLT LOADED, took miles divided by hours on this one at it was almost 46 miles for every hour on the engine, that is putting it down.

If I did my math correctly, based on the mileage I got in my '04 GMC dually. On a 1000 mile trip, and fuel being $4.00/gallon, it would only cost you an additional $50 - $75 to pull the big trailer. It would be worth that IMO, for the comfort, ease and security.

Re: Hunting a Trailer

Nice work Wyatt. I am flying to Houston and helping drive out for sure now. :woody: Talked to Miles last night, he's going to get the trailer in the bling CTD Thursday he thinks. I'd almost ride out there with him and haul a bike if I wanted to put 8 hours under my belt both ways.

Oh still up for a fly in between T-day and new years to put in buggy work if needed. ;)

Re: Hunting a Trailer

Leave that motor alone. They are 'chipped' up from the factory way more than you are used to. As for mileage, the cat is something...just gay sounding without a full exhaust. Do that and all the other ''mileage'' tricks and it will take you years to make up the money you put in it for mileage gains. I found when I did my Edge and exhaust I got much worse mileage (hand figured) than stock because I was alwayspeeling out.

Truck plus trailer is less than going to the dealer and buying a new truck alone. And that is by ALOT!
So what's your secret? I've been casually looking for a tow rig on Craig's List and ebay for about a year now. All the good deals I find turn out to be scams.

How did you go about hunting down this kind of deal?

Whats your dollar figure? I looked at 3 2003 D-maxs last week, they were all between 70-90k miles, white, either grey or tan leather, and had the optional floor shift transfers. All very nice between 14-15k. That is dirt cheap.

Ebay, craigslist, autotrader, racingjunk, Houston Chronicle(online)

But I live in oil captial of the western hemisphere, soccer moms drive duallys down here. If you ebay search "Chevrolet Dually" you'll get like 30, and 20 of them are in Houston. I had plenty to choose from.

Yeah a pimped out Dually is known as a Texas Limo. Those and suburbans are everywhere in Texas

That is a good deal but I was thinking of something under $7k. I'd like something reliable and safe that pull my buggy anywhere I want to go. I'd also consider a van. Finally, I'd like it to have some kind of extracab so I can tilt the seat back and take a nap. I do that nearly half the time on my Sunday drive home after a wheeling weekend and I'd be dangerous without that.

I'm not all the brand specific. It seems like all the trucks in the 2000-2002 range are pretty good. Maybe I'm aiming too high for $7k? A weak as it might be, my tacoma is reliable and I wouldn't want to give that up.
