I really don't want to accept the fact that this is a serious thread.

It's more serious than you think.

Barnes 4wd or RuffStuff when they are having a sale is about the cheapest place to get heims. Or Midwest control.

Re: S10 build sas aka rasta truck

5/8 is too small.

3/4 minimum! And they'll wear out pretty fast on the lowers with much abuse.

I'd suggest 7/8 on the lowers and 3/4 uppers

Re: S10 build sas aka rasta truck

Listen I have no extra money and in the middle of a buggy build. I just got done doing my four link.
Buy some tabs it is way easier and worth the money. I spent 3 days cutting grinding and drilling holes. I was also using 3/8 thick.
As far as link bar material if I couldn't get cheap dom at a min run 2 inch square 1/4 thick that way the first time out all your work dont get destroyed.
Good luck. Keep posting pics.

Re: S10 build sas aka rasta truck

Dude, Nick is the king of cheap. You can do all this on a budget. Use square tube, use tractor joints, bushings on frame side. Stay away from those 5/8s hiems. I guess your gonna use air shocks. Find some used 2.0 on the cheap.

Works good for trans/tcase crossmembers, frame crossmembers, bombproof rock sliders, and axle trusses

Re: S10 build sas aka rasta truck

Just a heads up, you will need to grind down the weld proud on the inside of the tube to get your inserts in so get some carbide burrs.

Here's your adapters for 1.25" rod ends. http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/125TS-SQ.html Barnes 4wd makes this one. Also for 1.25" ends. https://www.barnes4wd.com/1-14-12-SQUARE-Tube-Insert-For-15-Tube-ID_p_261.html

And this one for 7/8" ends. It's for 1.25" ID (your 2" tube is 1.5"ID). https://www.barnes4wd.com/78-14-SQUARE-Tube-Insert-For-15-Tube-ID-_p_263.html

You CAN use a round adapter in the square hole if you're a good welder. You'll need to fill in a gap at the corners.

I would just grind down the insert a bit so it clears the weld...

^^^^^This works too....

I ground down the weld but I also drilled a 1/2" hold on each side of the square tube and plug welded the insert in addition to the perimeter weld.
