D60 Gears

D'oh! I shoulda looked at the pic!

So here's another question to ask yourself Wildman. Do you like the RPMs at hiway speeds? Or, is now the time to re-gear both diffs?

It is mostly a trailer queen so the on road RPM's aren't a big issue. If I was to regear it I'd got to 5.38 not 4.88. So no don't think now is the time to regear both axles.

Okay just went out and looked, the bearing kit that came with MY Yukon gears didn't have a crush sleeve in it. I still have the whole kit because the shop that installed my gears didn't need it.

PS: So if any of you need a kit I'll sell you this one.

Well after all the crap I took off people for running that wimpy HP44 front axle!!:fawkdancesmiley: :fawkdancesmiley: :haha: :haha:

And to think I have blown up TWO D60 ring gears in FOUR months!!  :booo: :booo:

So any advise at this point? Should I go with a LP60, LP70, 14bolt? How about sending the gears to Longfield and having them Cryo'd?
Lets hear some ideas.

I knew you would be first in line to say something.
Wasn't it you who questioned my HP44? Well it ain't broke yet. But the almighty D60 sure has. So other than your 9" you got any other advise?

The only thing wrong with your rig (besides the Jeep part)is the major lack of JY parts. There's a balance, things must be in check.......
Go climb under a 57 studabaker, get your hands dirty and pull some parts off of it. Go home and start installing. Don't wory if the parts don't fit, just use a biger hammer and more rod....:redneck:

Your 60 is breaking for a reason...which makes no sense if the 44 is holding up to the same abuse.

Either "your" 60 is a one of a kind POS or the gears are just not getting setup right.

Call the 60 manufacturer and start there.

Go back to page 4 and see what Tera's reply was to me. Any comment on the Cryo treatment by Longfield? Yes I'll be calling them tomorrow.

What size tires are you running?

Their response sucks...

I know nothing about Bobby's Cryo process...it's probably still cheaper than putting in another axle though.

35's busting a HP 60... Makes no sense whatsoever

I'd be really interested to see a pattern and specs after setup. Something is definitely out of whack here. My knee jerk reaction, after seeing the pics, is that maybe the backlash is waaaay too tight.
