• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

My 321 Build

Hopefully by New Years. Maybe a test run a week or 2 before.

Doesn't look like a lot but I got the gussets done for the steering stops on the rear steer. I cleaned the axle up and painted it. Put a couple coats of clear coat on it so maybe it will hold up for a while. Tomorrow I plan on installing the rear axle seals, installing the RCV axles and finishing the front steering up. :woot

Good ole' Hammered Silver.....my favorite. Looks good. Hopefully the clear coat will help. I might have to try that on mine.

So today my plan was to put in the rear RCV axles. Didn't go as I had planned at all. First the axle seals was an issue then the axles seemed a little long to me. As I didn't want to fawk up 2,000.00 worth of axles I am taking them to EOR and let the pros stick them in. I cleaned up the rear chassis , cut off the fuel cell brackets as my custom cell will mount different. Also put gussets on the upper shock mounts and a removable bar that ties both shock mounts together.

Just got a picture of my fuel cell. All it likes is the filler cap and the flip over valve. I am going to get it Monday. It is made out of 1/4" bottom and 1/8" sides and top. It has 6 mounting tabs. This was made by Cave Spring Customs 706-252-4591 . Tell him Josh sent you.

I tend to do this a lot ^

Looks great, nice colors. It is slow work and hard to see progress at your stage, but still fun

Well I like getting my toggle panel in before I can do any more on the interior. I am really close though. Hope the rear axle doesn't hold me up too long.

I went to GA today and picked up my Fuel Cell. Carried my Radiator and 16" Fan and helped build a shroud for it. Got home and started installing. Got the tabs welded on the chassis for the fuel cell and mounted the radiator. Also Ran some fuel line.

Looks great Josh. One small suggestion, put some eurethane shock bushings in between your tabs and mounts for your gas tank. Helps with the flex so stuff doesn't snap off. thumb.gif

I did, 2" x 1.5" rubber blocks. Very Pliable, it's in the last picture. This cell is beefy 1/4 bottom 1/8" on the sides and top. And I added in 2 more mounts 6 total.

Thanks for all the comments. I got to get on it today and tomorrow. I go back to work Thursday..... :****:

Sorry man, I didn't look at the second set closely or I would have seen them re done. The first set has the cell bolted in and I spoke too soon. Looks great though. thumb.gif

It's cool. I didn't have my rubber cut yet....lol when I first set it in place. I believe this stuff is going to be the ticket on keeping it from cracking apart.

Looks good man. I plan to run my radiator in the same area cause when I put mine in "R" I generally dont look back to much.

I had a lot of running to do today as I go back to work tomorrow. I had to purchase some large snap ring pliers for the Tara Drive Flanges. I got the front flanges installed. I also got the sides of the console done. And some of the electrical mounts done as well. Talked to a buddy earlier and found out my RCV's are too big for my knuckles and will have to go another route. I was really hoping they would work. I guess I am going to try Spidertrax axles as I have been hearing good things about them. This is for the rear steer so it has to be beefy.

sparks flew when mine poped in LOL
they are very tough
sucks that your axels wount work what are you gonna do with them?

Don't know yet. Hope to talk with jimmy about it tomorrow . If the Spidertrax axles will fit then I would like to run them. They have only had 1 set break and that was cause failure to other parts. What ever it is it has got to be able to take the abuse or I will have to get a different rear axle. I should know more later and will post up.
