• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

So what is your>>>>>>

Doesn't affect ratio.

well yes i relize this, i was thinking more along the line of the ability too crawl if you dont have enough horsepower to turn the lower larger gears and big tires then that can be a problem and your crawl ratio wouldnt matter much

maybe one guy should listen to himself....

Darius no offence intended, been told by toybug and others your a good guy, but your posts read like a know it all jerk. :kissmyass:

:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

And 150:1 is perfect in my book :awesomework:

My rig is too low for 90% of the stuff out there and hardly ever use the doubler.---If I was to do it again I would not put the 4:1 in the front case..

it can make a slight diff, mostly based off of the size of you're rotating mass, but off idle the difference is so slight. Take ISH's old buggy, 22re, 150:1, maunual transmission, 50lb. flywheel (big rotating mass), good luck killing that thing, there were two way's, turn it off, put in the clutch.

you used it in the snow:redneck:

How is that? I don't smoke, drink Budweiser or sweep floors :haha: :haha: :haha:

Oh yeah...and I actually wheel :haha: :haha: :haha:

I know nothing, you know everything because you're older, wiser, and far more handsome......it's a terrible curse.:awesomework:

and real slow crawling is alot of fun on dry sticky rocks.

I have a standard in my toy and dual cases, 4.7's rear case with 4.10 diff gears. 1st gear is to low for around here, but at the hammers and in moab I have used it quite abit just for fun and in comps it useful for when you need to be real slow and technical on getting through a gate.

Crawling is about slow. HP won't help you go slow.

I figure if you can't crawl up a rock face with no throttle, you could use a lower ratio. With my current setup I can't quite do that, so I figure 100:1 would be a reasonable minimum for me (with a 350). However, I'm quite sure 100:1 wouldn't be slow enough in many technical situations.

i have a decent crawl ratio and and cant hardly crawl up anything without any throttle:wtf:

Well here's a little bit of info, go to any form of competitive wheeling, figure out what people in every vehicle use for a crawl ratio. nobody is lower than roughly 80:1 with auto's, these are the perfect setup's in the roughest condition's. Now please explain to me and all of them why they should make the big change over to super low gearing? This is all common knowledge shared amongst people who have a clue, no big secret, or one idiot's opinion.

Also, I am a jerk on the net as well in person.....if you're an idiot. 99% of people on the net nothing in person like they are here. you get a few people around in a public forum, and everybody turns into toughguy know it all's. I rarely don't get along with everybody in person, Jobless, Crash, Crusty, Iceman, stompinjab, I wish I could smack them through the computer on a pretty regular basis, but in person they are all great guy's, as would most love the ability to smack me on here. It's just the internet, harmless toughguy fun from the comfort of you're living room.

Your too short to be a tough guy :fawkdancesmiley:

Oh and I will be up there soon to bounce ya around :D

I don't think its as much of a "tough guy" thing as its more opinion/beliefs driving who we are...

Earlier you said 55-60 was more than enough for an auto... Make up your mind :flipoff:

I also already decided I was clueless.:fawkdancesmiley:

55:1 is perfect IMO and 95% of competitor's feel the same way,
moon car's are between 65 and 70, and there are a few I'm sure that arew close to 80. But IMO anything more is a total waste. I'll let anybody who question's 55:1 in an auto not being low enough drive my bucket (only 50), I'm sure you're opinion will be changed.

50-80 is a pretty big range :fawkdancesmiley:

forum toughness is fun. I'm sure we'll meet up in the future.

Not that I am one with much knowledge here...quite the opposite actually...but I didn't think the original question had much to do with competion rigs. It all depends on whether you want to use finesse to get through a tricky obstacle or the EBP method of point and shoot. My lowest is 200:1 and I have rarely used it but it has saved some body panels in a couple of spots. Most of the time it is 87:1 and higher on the trails for me.

Just a FYI a torque converts makes a 40-50:1 feel like an 80 but its depending alot on your torque converter stall speeds and lockup options though
