555 "Black Betty"

Still bad ass even with the shock hoop. If that is all you got then they are a win in my book on building rigs.

Thanks for the back story on the rim. Too bad I have already posted about your lack of improved driving skills on Pirate :flipoff1:

I love it, are you kidding, I want people to think my driving sucks terrible, like I'll wad em up in a corner!!!

Truth on this car is, i'm really going to have to unlearn a lot, like terrain reading is so much different than anything I've ever been in. And steering, holy smokes, its more than a suggestion.

The GOOD:
I would compare the ride to....sitting on your couch with a steering wheel and driving it across 3-4' deep whoops. You're butthole puckers up for the hits and they just never came. Its cheating compared to solid axle, just plain cheating. Going to take a while to untrain the mind that huge holes arent really a huge concern anymore.

That is what I was waiting to hear. I am so jealous... drool

Can't wait to ride in this thing. Gonna be epic for sure. Rode in Slawsons KOH last year and it was amazing how awesome the suspension was I can't imagine how badass this is.

I talked to him Sat night right after this little **** up, and after he got the news he would have to buy bigger shocks, new mounts, new upper link system on the axle, new wheel, etc etc etc and he was still so far up on cloud 9 about how amazing the ride is it was kind of funny. I"m sweating the rebuild upgrade costs and he's like, IDGAF, this thing is beyond my wildest dreams, holy ****, I don't know what to do with myself, holy ****, I love this car, holy ****. laughing1

Damage sucks, but we only had ourselves to blame on it. We tried to run it as is, and it bit us.
Once the damage was done, theres only one option fix it.

proof..... should look like this by Wednesday (Mikey Childress's car was the original image)

Any thoughts or comments?

Well come on with it. Tell us the good, the bad, and the ugly. :fish:

damn it i typed a big ol reply and my comp dropped it all.

its fast as hell, faster than I can drive it at this point.

Has some new car bugs.
-Blew a drivers inner CV, at this point we are very sure it was installed wrong vs. wearing out.
-Motor has some tune/sensor issues.
a. might have too low of a TQ.
b. leaded Av gas likely ate the O2's (now unplugged)
c. knock sensors were taking such a beating that it was retarding timing (now unplugged)
still doesnt have the top end it should.
-20lb radiator cap is too high for the Ron Davis, I cracked a weld on it.
-need to re-do all of the catchcan/vent hoses.
-need to replace bearings in rear pro-hubs.

Legit badass car. Loud as ****!!! Loudest thing at Parker, louder than Shannon at KOH.
We had some early serp belt issues at Parker that put me in the middle of the Class10's and we picked them off like they were standing still. Then got into the 6200 trucks and they were pissed and none would get over. I posted vid on youtube of one of the bad ones.
I called a handful of miles into Lap 2 at Parker because the motor wasnt doing what it needed to, and we were more driving the course than racing it. Drove the car out, and pulled a 7200 with us down a ravine, across a dry creek and then up a 30' slope. Building the Karma bank.

Y'all probably saw its on Nittos now. They came on because of Rick, looks to be a good relationship in the making. The tires are damn meaty, we expected to have eaten the rear two by the time we pitted after Lap 1, instead we could still see the tit marks on them.

Got to shoot Robby Gordon down on driving it. He approached Rick at Parker Qualifying wanting to drive it at KOH, Rick declined. :****:

Prob just the vid, but motor sounded a little flat. So glad to see this thing getting beat on. Awesome rig my friend!

Motor is hating life, trying to get it on Masts rollers on Monday.
It hasn't ever really ran right, ecm/sensor issues from what we can tell. 103 burned the O2's up quick, and it thinks its getting over 250 in the ecm, but the other two gauges show 210 so it goes into limp mode.
All reasons why I called it on lap 2 and drove it to the road, and on the trailer, then recwheeled it at KOH vs. raced it.

Very cool to see this thing come to life. Looks like Rick has done an awesome job finishing it out. Everything on your list looks managable. Keep us updated. thumb.gif flashemifyougotem

Thanks for the update. It really looks badass. You are doing what I wish I could devote the time and money too. I so wish I could get into desert racing but from a geographical standpoint it makes even less sense than Dirt Riot and KOH stuff. Vegas2Reno in 2012 really changed my outlook. I would go back in do that in a heartbeat. I enjoy the rocks but the desert racing is just a whole different ballgame.
